Catholic School Parents SA

Catholic School Parents South Australia (CSPSA) has enjoyed a successful year of progression and engagement in 2022.  As the organisation continued to grow over 2022, the engagement and followers increased and allowed parents, schools and communities to engage with the organisation and resources offered.

The CSPSA logo and brand, developed with Nation, was approved by SACCS in November 2021 which enabled a website and social media platform to be created. The brand, website, and social media presence was launched in January 2022 which has enhanced online parent engagement.

2022 saw CSPSA launch the education program, with parent engagement seminars offered to parents of all Catholic schools across South Australia. The seminars were offered in person, and online, to enable maximum engagement. The two seminars facilitated by Madhavi Nawana Parker and Mark le Messurier had over 500 participants attend online and in person. The resources are now online on the CSPSA website to enable future access for parents and communities.

CSPSA undertook extensive consultation throughout 2022 with key stakeholders in the development of a Charter for Parents in Catholic Schools SA. The consultation process involved CESA leadership, representatives from Principal associations, the Catholic Identity team and parent representatives. Following consultation, the Charter for Parents in Catholic Schools SA was completed which aims to be a resource for schools and parents to utilise. The Charter aims to identify the shared responsibility of parents and schools to establish a positive partnership to achieve educational, spiritual, and developmental outcomes. The Charter was approved by SACCS in 2022 and is now being implemented and promoted throughout schools.

Engagement continued across metropolitan and regional schools with the Executive Officer travelling to the Southwest region and Port Pirie Diocese. Positive parenting engagement sessions have been held at various schools highlighting the need to work in partnership with schools.

The Executive Officer, Trish Jarvis, is an active member on various SACCS standing committees and CESA working strategy groups to provide a consistent and active parent representation. The organisation continues to grow with the recruitment of an additional employee planned for early 2023 and expansion of Parent representatives from each school.

CSPSA is looking forward to a productive 2023 engaging with parents, schools and communities.
